Welcome to Rate My Rental. By accessing or using our website and services (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility and accounts

You must comply with all laws that apply to you. You may need an account to use certain features. You are responsible for your credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

The Service

Rate My Rental allows users to search rental-related places, view maps and neighborhood context, and publish reviews. Listings, scores, and neighborhood data may be incomplete, approximate, or sourced from third parties. We do not guarantee availability of any particular property or landlord record.

User content

You retain ownership of content you submit (e.g. reviews). By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and adapt your content solely to operate, promote, and improve the Service—including moderation, formatting, and aggregation with attribution consistent with the product.

You represent that you have the right to post your content and that it does not violate third-party rights. You must not post unlawful, harassing, discriminatory, fraudulent, or misleading content, nor personally identify others beyond what is reasonably necessary for a good-faith review.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to disrupt, scrape, or overload the Service or circumvent rate limits or security;
  • Use the Service for spam, astroturfing, or coordinated inauthentic reviews;
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
  • Reverse engineer or misuse APIs except as expressly permitted.

Third-party data and maps

Map imagery, geocoding, routing, and related features may be provided by third parties (e.g. Mapbox) under their terms. Census and open-data sources may be subject to separate licenses. Your use of those features is also subject to the applicable provider policies.

Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. USER REVIEWS ARE OPINIONS OF INDIVIDUALS, NOT FACTS VERIFIED BY US.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RATE MY RENTAL AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100), IF APPLICABLE LAW ALLOWS SUCH A CAP.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Rate My Rental and its operators against claims arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of third-party rights, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or harms other users or the Service.

Changes

We may modify these Terms. We will post updates on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction require otherwise.
